First
Post Office in RuskinMrs.
Adaline Dickman Miller founded the first post office in Ruskin on August
7, 1908. The post office was located in one of the dormitories of the
first Ruskin College. The doorway to the post office can be seen on the
left of the photo, and Dr. McA Miller on the far left. Mrs. Miller is on
on the bridge, in white.
The
Ruskin Commongood Society platted Ruskin on February 19, 1910, and filed
the plat on March 9, 1910, in the Hillsborough County Court House with
lots for the college, parks, and for the founding families. Many of the
streets were originally named after social writers of the era. More information can be found at the Ruskin
